Yep, I loved it when he died, I think i was cheering.
He annoyed me all the time.
It was cool 'cause in the end Phoebe, the one that he loved was the one to kill him.

the girls were always a little unfair to that poor man. But in the end he wasn't evil just on a different plane I liked that part leaves it open for him to return if they being the show back some how and it helps with my daydreams hehehe.

My opinion: it sucked. On top of blatantly just being a long session of killing off any of the feeling of Cole as anymore of a character than some demonic sidekick that has a grand total of one or two episodes, season 5 bypassed so many pieces of Charmed continuity common sense just to do so.
First of all, he wasn't the Source of All Evil anymore. And even back then, he wasn't really the Source of All Evil, he was just possessed and controlled by the Source of All Evil. As a matter of fact, he fought it. Which, if Phoebe weren't so busy caught up in her devil phobias at the time, she would realize was probably the only reason she lived to see the Source's end.
The fact that he, fueled by his love for her, fought and got strong enough within his body to overcome the Source, is the only reason Phoebe's latent premonition that showed her everything Source-Cole had done even appeared. Not to mention the fact that he was trying to get rid of the Source by handing it off to a wizard, yet she was stupid enough to listen to a hellspawn and a seer and stop the whole process to become Queen of All Evil. He was winning his internal fight, totally eroding the Source's hold over him, until she became impressionable and stuck the final nail in his coffin. Yet once he came back, she and her sisters just kept randomly treating him like he was still, always had been, and always would be the Source of All Evil, which should totally count as complete crap if I may say so myself.
Also, he'd had enough control over the Underworld's ashes inside him and was moved to his own convictions enough by his love for Phoebe so that if she had accepted or even tried to tolerate him, he'd never be able to turn on her without some form of magical or demonic manipulation getting involved. Now, sure, that's exactly what she was afraid of, but if that was reason to shun off Cole, that was enough to shun off the Charmed Ones, including her dead sister Prue and herself, as all of them had already been magically and/or demonically manipulated into turning evil on one another at least once.
Yet it was just Cole who was the threat to be feared. It was just Cole whose opinions, whose desires, didn't matter. It was just Cole who deserved to be given up on just because the Source had invaded his bloodstream and completely suppressed him to take control of her world. It was just Cole who was responsible for everything, for Phoebe and her sisters having been burned one too many times. The fact that Cole was the one taken over first and foremost, which led to him needing to be vanquished to take out his conquering parasite, meaning he was the main one burned most of all by all of this, wasn't cause for a single pausing moment of thought either. He was still completely and always completely the cause of their problems to them, never a victim.
The treatment of him in this season by all the characters he once considered at least friends was just damn near callous. Moreover, the interpretation of Cole himself was also equally pathetic. How does a guy whose love for Phoebe reawakened his humanity, gave him clarity enough to stand for good, and really led to both the supposed and true vanquish of the Source of All Evil, get clouded by that same love into seeing nothing but how to get her by his side, leading to his own permanent downfall into madness and then into limbo by death?
Season 5's great accomplishment was the momentary destruction of Charmed common sense and of the perceptions of good hearts on everyone involved just for a means to the permanent destruction of the single best male character on the show, solely because the actor was leaving for a different program. Phoebe's love life just tanked into increasingly pitiful levels since then, resulting in her really just settling for a literally mail-ordered groom just to have a man at the end of the show. That aspect of the show, Phoebe's love life, was served the just due of "you still suck" at the end of it all.
