It's supposedly a quite important role because Aria's storyline is that she's trying to keep her Dad's affair with a college student from her Mom. She's home from her short stint in Iceland and is also supposed to have a crush on her teacher. The "A" person knows this and it's Aria's job to keep her Mom from finding all this out. I think Holly will play a significant role in this show and I'm excited to see it.

That really sounds interesting. I agree, Holly will do a really good job in playing a 16 year-old's mum, especially when there is something to get upset about. Wonder when the shows gonna air in Germany... I would have liked to watch it too... but probably I can watch scenes from it on YouTube. ^^

After Aria ignores "A's" threats, "A" reveals her father's affair to her mother, who kicks Aria out of the house. She's forced to live with her father. Haha Holly's character seems to be a bitch (that's in later episodes) we'll be introduced to all characters and their parents in the pilot which is why the pilot had to be re-shot (at least the scenes with Aria's parents) I'm so excited and I surely can't wait for June.

It's going to be great! I'm extremely excited. Also, Holly said something to Alyssa on twitter about it being a "mommy's job" since she only has to work a few days a week. So I'm really happy for her that she's able to find a balance between her work and her family. Good for her . June 8th better come soon!

I'm reading the first book of the series. Holly's character is an interesting choice because it's so different from the Holly we all know. The character of Ella, is more like a friend type to Aria than the mom-type. Both, Byron and Ella want their kids to call them by their first names. I've also read the script for the pilot and it looks awesome. The script was written before the cast was found so formal changes have been made to make everything as realistic as possible. There's mentions of flashbacks that happened three years ago, for example, the writers have changed it to just 1 year to avoid having to find younger versions of all four main characters. If you haven't read the books, I can recommend you the first book. I await the arrival of the others. They're written in a way that you can't help relating to the stuff (as a girl, anyway). Aria is the character who is easiest to relate to for me because I was always the outsider. Aria, before she went to Iceland with her family, was an outsider, because she was yet to find herself and had therefore tried out different styles. When she came back from Iceland, everything changed and she had suddenly found herself. In the book, she refers to Ella as "Mom" but in the script, they've mixed it a bit, I think. "Love you, Ella" - I don't know if it will be like this because they've made changes...changes that are not yet available for the curious PLL fans. It's worth checking out the script if you're very curious about the pilot. The pilot will leave us hanging for the next episode "The Jenna Thing" which book one mentions all the way through. I'm halfway and it still hasn't been revealed what "The Jenna Thing" is. It's very exciting

Thanks for telling us about this book! I think I'm going to have to read it as well. Once I get through all my AP exams in May I'll get started . It sounds like it'd be a fun read. And it also sounds like an interesting part for Holly. I can't wait to see what she does with the role. So exciting!

That was why she wrote to Marlene King (producer of the series) "I need Ella in 140 characters or less...sort off" but I'm sure she figured out how to portray Ella The book is awesome. Good luck with your AP exams

I know! It'll be great after everything is done with college and exams and all that. I'm sure you'll do well The thing that bugs me the most is the thing with Aria's parents and the name thing. Okay, why do they prefer their kids calling them by their first names? What's wrong with 'Mom' and *dad' now? I don't know many parents with this opinion, but some have it. It's certainly something you notice in the book, except after it's stated that Byron and Ella have this opinion, Mike and Aria kept referring to them as 'Mom' and 'Dad'. It is the absolute first thing the pilot will show the audience...it's the scene at Aria's house according to the script anyway

That'll be interesting to see. Yea, I mean... calling parents by their first names is definitely not common but it does happen. I have known people to do it, but have always found it to be very strange.
But it'll be interesting to see how they handle it in the pilot. It says something about Holly's character that she wants her kids to call her by her first name. It sounds like a different kind of role than what Holly generally plays, so it will be very interesting to watch.

I've finished the second book and just started the third. Holly's character, Ella, is pretty much the type of person who gives her family her everything...her family is her life. The storyline is that Aria's family is torn apart because everything is revealed to Ella, who was never supposed to know. I believe, this will be shown in the third episode. Aria has known of her father's affair for nearly four years when Ella finds out which leaves Ella crushed. I don't want to give away too much though so..read the books and be excited about the Aria parts. She will refer to Ella as 'Mom' several times despite Ella preferring her daughter calling her 'Ella'. That made me happy because, personally, I find it completely weird that they'd just want their kids calling them by their first names. It just doesn't seem right, but that's just the way Aria's parents are.

This is so exciting . I'm sure Holly will be great. It sounds like you're really enjoying the series. Do you think they're going to stick to the storylines from the book throughout the season, or do you think they'll stray away from it?
