You need to express your opinion to your mum sooner rather than later or Confront him but don't go mad.

You need to speak to you mom about this situation of the way he treats you. You are her child and should be treated with respect. PERIOD! And unless something is done about that he doesn't deserve the right to adopt you, and you and your mom need to agree on that fact. No one deserves mental or verbal abuse and that's what he's doing if he puts you down and lowers your self esteem. And your not alone, alot of people suffer from depression it's just a matter of getting it under control with the right medical attention and medication. You should come first with your mom because your her child. Blood is thicker than water! Good luck!

Dear powerof3, Well,I think you and your mom should have a real talk on this problem. You have to express your feeling to her and hope her to think of a solution together with you.Well, this of course have to be done without hurting her,you know?Just don't use those words that you know will hurt her but still able to express your feeling. And secondly, you can also get away from places that you know he might be.You can avoid him and don't give him chances to put you down.Thirdly, you can show on a confident side of you whenever he lower your self esteem. It will make him feel less fun in putting you down because it doesn't works, and sooner or later,he will just drop that attemp. Anyway, try to talk about your problem with a friend,it might help you to overcome your depression.Best of luck!
Love, Paige
