As many of you know, I am quite obsessed with the Twilight series. The movie came out on Friday (11/21/08). Has anyone seen it yet? I personally really enjoyed it. There were some scenes that I wish they hadn't taken out/changed, but still all in all it was great. Lets just say I've already seen it a few times lol I'm really excited, it's official that they are making the second book (New Moon) into a movie! This was announced over the weekend since the movie did so well (over $35 million on the first day). So has anyone else seen the movie? Post your opinions here!

lol you've never heard of it? I guess they're probably not as popular in Germany as they are in the US. Here, it's crazy. EVERYONE has heard of Twilight.

Ok I am not going to copy over everything i wrote on my own site about this movie, as that would be mean to all who haven't seen it yet. But here is a few snipts of it ... But it is probably best not to read the rest of my post, as it may still contain spoilers. i am so sorry if you do happen to read some... I know how it was when i was trying not to read any (as i had to wait until Dec 12th for it to be released here). ---------- I must say that it was very interesting . It was enjoyable, but i still walked out slightly disappointed. I was disported in the fact that the Cullen family had little to do with the movie, only Edward. Another disappointing thing was the missing blood testing part from the book. I wanted to see that, but it never happened. I didn't particularly like the way they changed how Bella finds out about Edward being a Vampire. At the end i thought that it was good to have Victoria at the prom. It shows that she is watching them, & waiting for a chance to seek revenge. For those who haven't read the latter books, it gives them reason to go find out what happens with Victoria, & how she seeks out revenge on Edward & Bella.

I was actually just discussing my whole opinion on the movie with Juels (it was just released near her on Friday), so I'm literally going to just copy and paste my super long PM. It really has my general opinion on the movie in it.
But as Paige/Chelle said with hers, do NOT read below this point if you haven't seen the movie, and don't want to be spoiled.
---------------------------
Okay, well now I can give you a super detailed opinion on it since I've seen it a few to many times lol.
So here I go. I definitely enjoyed it. Did I think it was as good as the book? Definitely not. There was no comparison, but I didn't expect there to be. I think I actually enjoyed it more after the first time. When I saw it the first time, I liked it, but wasn't crazy about a bunch of things.
For one, there was basically no meadow scene! I COMPLETELY think they should have had the meadow scene in there in full. They had a scene with them in a meadow, but not THE meadow scene. That was where their first kiss was, and that definitely should have been shown as well as a lot of other things that happened there. That was probably the biggest thing I was mad about.
They also skipped a bunch of important scenes like the blood typing scene, and all the scenes of them together in the cafeteria at school. Like all the questions that they asked eachother. That part really developed their relationship, and they should've had it in the movie at least to an extent. I didn't think their relationship was developed anywhere NEAR the way it was in the book.
I also thought Edward's mindreading should've been in it more. It wasn't a huge part in the movie like it was in the book. They also slipped up with it. When they were in Edward's car & saw Charlie & Carlisle's cars at the police station, Edward was like "I wonder what Carlisle is doing here?". And then when they got there, he was like "Carlsisle, what happened??". In the book, Edward would've known from miles away lol. And on the note of their "gifts", they screwed up Alice's as well. Bella literally just walked out the door to get away from Alice and Jasper (to get to James). In the book, it was really hard for her to get away since Alice would see her leaving. And Jasper... they didn't even mention that he had a gift at all!
But from all of this (wow sorry that was so long), it sounds like I didn't like the movie. But I really did. I have to keep in mind that it was a 2 hour movie attempting to put in a 500 page book. After I saw it the first time (when I basically thought it was just ok), I was able to put aside all of these flaws and really enjoy the movie. I personally really liked all the acting/casting. I thought everyone was great. Really, my only problem was with what they changed/didn't put in. --------------------------
So I definitely enjoy the movie, I was just upset about some of the changes.
Yea, I also noticed that they changed the way Bella found out about Edward being a vampire. I thought it was interesting that they made it so that Jacob never breaks the treaty (by telling her about Edward). I wonder why they did that... I guess they must have had a reason for it.

(may be slight spoilers in my post)
I do like this concept they have used. But it is different from the book. I enjoyed the movie, don't get me wrong. I want to watch it again. I just, like you Val, didn't like some of the changes & things the left out.
