I have always said that Charmed was much better with the original 3 sisters. Since Shannon left, and Rose joined, I have felt that the show has gone downhill, and the girls do not use their powers as much as the they did in the early years. I agree. The chemistry is not as good with Rose.

come on it wouldnt have been the same, paige and pru so alike very head strong opinuated people. We had to keep allyssa the character pheobe was played brilliantly by her, nothing to do with who was the most popular actress at the time. I think prue had runn her course with charmed and there was lots more they could have done with pheobe. Allyssa had shown over the 3 seasons what she was capable of and i think some people mightened have liked it. If Phoebe or Piper hadn't run their course with Charmed, then neither did Prue. There could have been a lot more stories witih Prue. Her time on the show had been cut very short.

Keeping Phoebe and bringing in paige was an asset. I don't think the show would have as much spunk and comical fun. Sure prue had some funny lines but she didn't have the facial expressions to go with it like Paige. Paige facial expressions weren't funny. They were just dumb and silly. Plus, every character on the show didn't have to be funny or have dumb facial expressions. Charmed was a drama with comedy elements.

Sure prue had some funny lines but she didn't have the facial expressions to go with it like Paige. The show was already funny. In fact, the funniest episode was Sin Francisco with Prue. However, Charmed was suppose to be a drama with adventure, suspense, and comedy like Buffy, not silly and a comedy like Sabrina: The Teenage Witch.

I would have liked to see Prue, Piper and Paige, but not sure if it would have made 8 seasons. It would have made 8 season as long as two of the ORIGINAL Charmed sisters remained on the show.

that would had been a possibilty too, but then Prue and Paige wouldn't had the same powers, and then Paige wouldn't had been a half whitelighter

If you could please use the modify button instead of multiple posts. thank you.
I think that Paige was an asset to the show. It would have been nice to see them both on the show but it would not have been the same.

All three were perfect for their parts. The selection of the cast worked out far better than most realize. What was in production appeared to be going on in real life. SD & HMC were friends to begin with, so as sisters they worked together well. SD & AM it would seem had problems in the real world, but from the first show it was noted that there was a riff between those two sisters. This can also be found in the real world. They should have just gone with it. I have nothing agains RM but after Prue died they should have brought in Jennifer Love Hewitt as the youngest sister. I feel she would have been a better fit. Aside from looking more like a Halliwell sister she was also in another San Francisco based television show "Party of Five". Some may have found that amusing. What is a surprise to me is that she ended up on another program where she has the ability to see the dead, "Ghost Whisperer". Interestingly enough I had her picked out as the new sister long before she began that show. Blessed Be...Lady (MIdnight)

Rose McGowan was offered the role because two other actresses turned down the role (one of the two actresses was Jennifer Love Hewitt). Personally, I loved the show either way. Paige is so funny and I enjoy watching seasons 4-8 with her in them just as much as I love 1 - 3 with Prue.

I actually didn't know that two other actresses turned down the role. Who was the other person who turned it down?
Considering Charmed's success, I imagine they were disappointed that they didn't take the role lol.
But I personally loved Rose McGowan as Paige. It brought a new dynamic to the show, and frankly, the proof that she was a good choice lies in the fact that the show went on for another 5 years.

Wow I never knew that. I'm surprised that there were 4 people who turned down the role. Charmed was doing very well at that point. I guess a lot of people wouldn't have wanted to replace an actress, knowing that there would be people upset by the new sister.

It could've been worse, though, those actors probably should've realized. Kern could've come up to them and offered to recast them as Prue in Shannen's place.

I personally think those actresses who turned it down made a big mistake. Charmed was a very very successful show, so they definitely missed out on a great opportunity.
But I'm happy with how it worked out, because I loved Rose on the show. She was a great addition, and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
